The vampire is horror's most enduring monster — seductive, immortal, and always reinvented for the era. This list covers a century of vampire cinema: the silent-era originals, the Hammer gothic period, the 80s teen-horror revival, and modern reinventions. We've excluded films that feature vampires as minor elements in a non-vampire story.

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night(2014)
Dir. Ana Lily Amirpour

Let the Right One In (2008) for emotional depth. Nosferatu (1922) for the original nightmare. Dracula (1992) for gothic excess. The Lost Boys (1987) for pure entertainment.
The Swedish original. It's more restrained, more ambiguous, and more affecting. Let Me In is a competent American remake but it over-explains where the original trusts the audience.
What We Do in the Shadows (2014) is a perfect horror comedy. Nosferatu (2024) is the prestige remake. 30 Days of Night (2007) turns vampires back into predators. The genre has more life than you'd think.
